Our group of eight enjoyed a great morning of birding and tallied 54 species.
It was a nine warbler day. It's been a close to a decade since we have seen a
red-headed woodpecker in the park and this morning's juvenile bird was in the
picnic area. Although common elsewhere, we had rock pigeons and a catbird
which we do not usually see. We enjoyed a particularly good view of a
yellow-throated vireo. This Sunday walk meets at 8:00am in visitors center
courtyard and all are welcome. -- Marshall Rawson, McLean VA.
