Our group of six tallied 29 species, including FOS eastern phoebes. Both
eagles were seen on the nest today.
Nearby on Conn Island were a number of great blue herons in the trees. Over
at the clay pond were turtles
sunning and spring peepers calling. The river was high and fast after the
week's rains; there were only one
ring-necked duck and seven common mergansers seen being buffeted about.
Overall it was a fairly quiet day.
This Sunday walk meets at 8:00 am in the visitor's center courtyard and all are
welcome. -- Marshall Rawson,
