Our group of six on this beautiful November morning tallied 33 species.
Highlights of the day included a large
flock of bluebirds at the middle overlook, winter wrens in the stream just
beyond the overlook, brown creepers
and a chipping sparrow in the holding basin area and a filled sparrow across
from the clay pond. There were a
particularly large number of black vultures roosting four separate trees with a
handful of turkey vultures.The
river is still quiet before the arrival of wintering ducks.
This Sunday walk meets at 8:00 am near the visitors center courtyard and all
are welcome. -- Marshall Rawson,
