Six birders identified 37 species. Birds of note this week include a black
and white warbler and barred owl. The owl was in a sycamore tree close to
the lock beyond the holding basin, just across from where the spur from the
Matildaville Trail joins Patowmack Canal Trail. The bird was at eye level
giving excellent views. All are welcome to join the walk which meets each
Sunday
at 8:00 am in the visitor's center courtyard. -- Marshall Rawson, McLean VA
