It was a great day for the Great Falls Walk with our group of twelve birders
tallying 65 species.
We divided up with a group going to the quarry and then up the Carriage Trail
where they added a veery, ovenbird
and common yellowthroat. We continued up river almost to the dam. We had
particularly good looks at a scarlet tanager,
rose- breasted grosbecks, multiple orioles, warbling vireo and parula. The
walk meets at 8:00am in the visitors center
courtyard and all are welcome. -- Marshall Rawson, McLean VA
