Anyone within easy driving range should certainly check out the Virginia
Bluebells and other spring ephemerals at Riverbend Park in Fairfax
County, Virginia.
We didn't see any birds of note, but were really flower-watching
yesterday.
Back yard birds:
An Eastern Towhee visited our Great Falls backyard over the weekend.
We still have 6 pine siskins at the thistle seed feeder occasionally,
along with gorgeous full-gold American goldfinches.
The white-breasted nuthatches, downy woodpeckers, blue jays, cardinals,
Eastern bluebirds, white-throated sparrows, chicadees, and tufted
titmice were found in abundance at the feeders and in the yard.
We are on the lookout for the ruby-throated hummingbirds that the
Virginia wildlife calendar promises us this week!
