I spent 6:30-8:15AM today (Saturday 25 April) near the O&D bike trail in Reston, just east of Hunter Mill Road. I found a nice variety of common birds, but only a single warbler species, strange since I covered several habitats.

Notable FOS (for me) were -

GREAT-CRESTED FLYCATCHER (1, in the woods far from the path)
ORCHARD ORIOLE (4, two M-F pairs)

I saw a Hermit Thrush but did not hear or see any Wood Thrushes. Lots and lots of COMMON YELLOWTHROATS, and two Blue-Gray Gnatnabbers. A large-ish accipiter sp. flew overhead.

A 5th (probably) Orchard Oriole in the top of a tree looked like it had painted Day-Glo red on its belly, or else it was a Scarlet Teenager with a black Goth hood over its head.

Happy birding everyone ---
