I spent some time at Greenfield, near Daleville, in Botetourt County this
afternoon. I was there from 2:30-5pm. It was a beautiful day, although somewhat
on the chilly side. There were lots of dogs?with their humans ?out and about?-
I even met a new breed....a Canaan, an ancient breed from the Middle East, who
goes by the name, Sheba - but ?enough about dogs....Song Sparrows and
Yellow-rumped Warblers seemed to be everywhere. Highlights include 9 species of
sparrows including Lincoln's and Vesper, a bright yellow Palm Warbler, an
immature Yellow Warbler, a male Ruddy Duck and a Great Egret. A list follows
with totals for each species.
