A friend and I spent about an hour and a half at Green Spring Gardens Park in
Fairfax County this afternoon. Had some nice birds.
We had several extended, excellent looks at a singing, male Baltimore Oriole;
nice looks at a singing male Orchard Oriole; watched a couple of Eastern
Kingbirds building a nest ( in the tree right across the road from the path by
the ponds); a handsome Northern Waterthrush flew across the road, by the
stream, landed on a tree and then flew down onto the rocks by the water. Also
saw some Blue-grey Gnatcatchers and several Barn Swallows.
Pleasant afternoon; nice park;,we're going back first thing in the morning.
