For years lesser balk-backed gulls have appeared as 1-2 individuals often
tucked in flocks of ring-billed gulls.
As LBBGs have increased significantly, the following observation was bound to
happen. Off 79th St at the Va
Beach oceanfront this week, I noted a raft of 26 LBBGs just offshore with a
couple of RBGUs among them. A sign
of things to come? Red-necked grebes (no, not a gull) are everywhere. What
