Official Counter: Bill Grant
Observers: Darryl Martin
Visitors:
Darryl Martin from Henry County arrived at 9:55 and stayed until 3:10. He
made some good spots and I was glad to have another pair of eyes
available.
A group of 10 female hikers came off the Appy Trail from the south and
proceeded on north at 9:45. Since none of them were equipped with any heavy
gear or backpacks I suspect it was a local group out for a day's hiking.
Cars today from Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts,
Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Vermont and Ontario,
Canada.
Weather:
Beautiful day with winds light and variable all day, sometimes coming from
different directions during a given hour. Mostly cloudless with about a
10% cloud cover by 1:00 EST. Barometric pressure began a steady fall
starting with the 10:00 hour.
Raptor Observations:
Expected more birds but they may have been held down due to the light
winds. First bird, an immature red-tail showed at 10:42 and the last a
Cooper's at 3:17.
Non-raptor Observations:
A few white-throat sparrows, lot of juncos (over 120), a few goldfinches
and a pileated woodpecker.
Predictions:
Much like today high around 64, mostly sunny. Should be another good day if
the winds will show up.
Good Birding ladies.
