Weather:
A pleasant day,temps. in the high 60s and low 70s. Steady ground level
winds out of the West and upper level winds from the NE. Clear sky early in
the day with clouds moving in later in the afternoon. Haze in the valleys
with brown smog over the valley to the West.
Raptor Observations:
Few migrants observed today, with several of the birds moving past the
overlook out over the valley to the West rather than flying close to the
ridge. One local Cooper's and a couple of local Redtails seen. A group of 8
Black Vultures were seen along with several TVs. The Peregrine was an adult
seen flying across the knob from West to East.
Non-raptor Observations:
The only other migrants seen were a few swifts and a few high-flying
swallows, which appeared to be Trees. A few Monarch butterflies were seen.
Predictions:
Similar to today weatherwise but a little cooler. Probably another slow day
with few migrating raptors. Most of the Broadwings have probably gone
through.
