Observers:
Weather:
Light east north east winds with not a cloud in the sky for the whole
day...
Raptor Observations:
Non-raptor Observations:
The avian highlight of the day (other than the HY GOEA of course) was
another White Pelican at 9:43 bird time. Also of note today were an
estimated seven Rusty Blackbirds (all heard, not seen, so take the estimate
with a grain of salt), two Great Blue Herons, sixteen Common Loons, and
about sixty scotters, most of which were Surfs. American Pipits and Eastern
Bluebirds were heard overhead, and another decent fligh of American Robins
occured (sorry, no gumption to count them today). Three Hermit Thrushes
were also seen from the platform; while they catch many such Thrushes back
a few hundred feet into the woods at CVWO's songbird banding station, I
feel like I infrequently see them from the platform. In the non-avian
arena, fourty-three Monarch flutterbys!
Predictions:
The predicted southwest winds and a blue sky do not bode well for a big
flight...
