Weather:
Clearing during the morning made way for a beautiful sunny day. There was
very little cloud cover by late morning. Some high clouds moved into the
area late in the day. Winds were light to moderate west-northwest becoming
light west late in the day.
Raptor Observations:
After a very slow start there was a steady movement recorded from mid
morning through the end of the day. The flight was spread over a wide
front, typical of west dominated winds, with birds noted at low to
moderately high altitudes. The first Northern Goshawk of the season
highlighted a pretty decent flight overall.
Non-raptor Observations:
Red-breasted Nuthatches have finally moved into the area in some numbers
with single and small groups noted flying over today. Several flocks of
Surf Scoters were seen migrating down the bay shore. In addition, one group
flew directly over the watch at altitude.
