Weather:
A partly cloudy morning with North West winds. By the afternoon the cloud
had cleared out and the winds died in the evening. The high temperature
was in the late afternoon at 27.9 degrees Celsius.
Raptor Observations:
The best day of the season so far with a total of 245. Nine species were
observed today with many setting new high counts for the season. Osprey
number hit a new high today with 115. Northern Harriers made an
appearance with 18. Sharp-shinned and Cooperâs Hawk numbers are
increasing. In the evening calm we had a small falcon flight. During the
last hour 9 American Kestrels were observed flying over the dunes toward
the bay, one after another.
Non-raptor Observations:
Today and yesterday I had a Palm Warbler land on the platform. I also had
a Lesser Yellowlegs fly over the platform heading North. Monarch project
started today and number have really pick up. 82 Monarchs were observed
making their way past the platform.
