Total observation time: 9.5 hours
Official Counter: Kyle Wright
Observers:
Weather:
Painfully blue skies, with a bit of north wind in the morning, but soon
changing to east and east southeast orrigins... sigh.
Raptor Observations:
Non-raptor Observations:
Four Red-bellied Woodpeckers, three Eastern Meadowlarks (although come to
think of it, even more meaningful than the comment on the herons yesterday,
do I really know they were all Easterns?), twelve Eastern Bluebirds, eight
Great Blue Herons, and one Common Loon. American Robins and Nothern
Flickers were only counted from seven to eight, bird time, totaling 640 and
110 respectivly. Also noted today were Northern Parula, Black-throated Blue
Warbler, both versions of Palm Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, and
Blackpoll Warbler, in addition to a handfull (each) of American Pipits,
American Goldfinches, and Pine Siskins. Twenty-nine Monarch flutter-bys.
Predictions:
The predicted few days of blue skies and variable winds ahead will likely
make for a cranky counter with fewer birds, many potentially giving less
than satisfactory looks. Not trying to discourage anyone from comming to
the platform (and anyone reading this regularly knows how wrong my
predictions can be), but have to tell the truth of what you might be in
for!
