Predictions:
November 30th is the official end to CVWOâs fall hawkcounting season at
Kiptopeke State Park, and as such, my last day on the platform. The birds,
of course, do not carry little 12 month calendars that indicate to them
that they have to migrate by a certain date. Furthermore, as I have
indicated in recent posts, November is coming a bit later this year, and
based on numbers at Great Lakes sites and Pennsylvania ridge sites in the
last week or two, there are still Red-tails and others left to move south.
We may have volunteer counters on the platform a bit over the next few
weeks, but if youâre in the area on a north or east wind, stop by and see
whatâs flying. There may not be official someones there to give some two
cents on what youâre seeing and/or provide other forms of entertainment,
but it can still be fun!
