April Addington, a teacher at Twin Springs High School in Nicklesville, VA
brought 17 students from her Environmental Research Class to the hawkwatch
today. They stayed from 10 am to 2 pm. Each of the students kept their own
list of the raptors seen. Bob Riggs of DGIF talked to the class about the
hawkwatch and how to identify raptors.
Weather:
Warm. Wind out of the West and Southwest most of the day.
Raptor Observations:
Hawks were comin through until 3:45. From that time until 5:45 the only
bird in the sky was a dazed and confused Turkey Vulture.
Non-raptor Observations:
A nice feeder flock of warblers came through late.
