Weather:
What a pleasant warm, lazy summer day with light southerly breezes. This
couldn't be November!
Temp: 25c (high)
Humidity: 32% dropping to 26%
Bar.Pressure: 1010<1009
Cloud Cover: not a single wisp. Brutal bright blue with haze and heat
shimmer early in the day.
Visibility still over 30km with light haze
Observations:
Quite a few Red-tails milling around not in any hurry to move on.
Late in the day I had remarked how long it had been since I had last seen
an eagle. It was not until after I arrived home in the evening and while
reviewing photos taken earlier in the day did I discover the Outback
airship I had photographed at 11:44 a.m. was escorted by an adult Bald
Eagle heading South.
Red-breasted Nuthatch landed in Rose-of-Sharon only few short feet away.
Hidden in cluster of branches, all I could hear was more like the "yak,
yak" of White-breasted Nuthatch, not the high-pitched squeeky toy of a
Red-breasted. Managed to photograph to confirm it was a Red-breasted.
Golden-crowned Kinglet- small group of 4-5 flew in to feed on insects on
Quince bushes.
Cormorant species
Things were so quiet that a groundhog came up on the railing platform just
a few short feet away and was photographed.
Predictions:
partly cloudy with advance of cold front
