Many visitors today (28 total) including: Daniel & Mary Mapel, Jim Waite,
Andrew Clem, Peter Van Acker, Gene Smith, Janet Paisley, Elaine Carwile.
Weather:
Mostly sunny day. Light NE wind. 20-24.6C. Great afternoon clouds to help
spot birds.
Raptor Observations:
Our first day of >100 raptors. Most birds were flying very high. Largest
kettle = 16 Broad-wings. Eight BE: 2 immatures (10:07am, 10:29am), 2 adults
(1:34pm, 2:13pm) and a family of 2 adults and two 1st-year birds at 4:50pm.
A beautiful Merlin passed leisurely by on west side of the gap and gave
terrific views! 5 Harriers (1 male, 2 female and 2 immature). A lot of
Red-tails mulling about above the ridge.
Non-raptor Observations:
2 Red-headed Woodpecker. 69 Chimney Swift. 17 Hummingbird. 9 Raven. 1
Purple Martin. 18 Tree Swallow. 12 Waxwing.
