Observation start time: 09:00:00
Observation end time: 14:45:00
Total observation time: 5.75 hours
Official Counter: Brenda Tekin
Observers: Gabriel Mapel, Mark Johnson, Vic Laubach
Weather:
Overall, a pleasant day. It was breezy early on, more out of the NW 12-25
km/h, then slowly diminishing to 5 km/h changing to west, SSW and then SW.
Temp: 11.1c > 14c; Humidity: 34%<32%; BarPressure: 1004 < 1003; Zero, like
in nada, zilch, NO cloud cover! Visibility for miles with distant haze
with road fog over I-85 corridor.
Raptor Observations:
Where are the Red-tails? We're seeing only a few moving through, and
several to our north not in migrating mode. Quite the opposite, the Bald
Eagles keep moving through. This is been a BIG year for them and yesterday
the observers were treated to seven that included two groups of three.
First group of three adults, all flying close together, moved through at
10:07; second group of three consisting of two adults and one juvenile flew
in at 12:44 a.m. Last BAEA for the day, a juvenile, headed south 2:28 p.m.
Non-raptor Observations:
A few Red-winged Blackbird moving across, along with Common Raven milling
around. Surprise of the day were the three Monarch Butterfly.
Predictions:
pretty much more of the same but hopefully more birds
