Gordy Adamski stopped by briefly on way to Campbell Co. to see the pair of
Swallow-tailed Kites.
On a sad note, we want to extend our heartfelt sympathy to volunteer
counter Rose Thomas on the recent passing of her mother.
Weather:
Almost picture perfect morning to kick off our 36th season at Rockfish Gap!
Bright blue skies with few cirrus clouds moving in. Steady westerly
breeze (12-17kh/w); temp. 19.5-22.5c; bar.pressure: 1002;
Raptor Observations:
Slow, but on board with so early in the season. The season's first
migrant, a Sharp-shinned flew straight over at 9:18 a.m. EST. A single
Broad-winged milled around for a bit before heading southward.
Non-raptor Observations:
Two hummingbirds zipped by; small groups of BARN SWALLOW, a female INDIGO
BUNTING, one MONARCH Butterfly zipping past heading due south, a pair of
BALTIMORE ORIOLES.
Predictions:
more of the same with more southly winds.
