Weather:
Stationary high pressure system producing bright blue skies and no wind to
speak of as the day wore on...
Wind speed: NW to NNW 13-19 km/h diminishing to maybe 1 km/h by 10 a.m.
EST. changing to a more southerly flow.
Humidity: 46% > 52%
Bar.Pressure: 1022
Cloud Cover: Crystal clear blue, no fog or haze; there was not even a
whisper of a cloud before 1 p.m. EST. Thin whisps of cirrus clouds began
to creep in by mid-afternoon on the less than 1 km/h wind speed. By then
the wind had changed to southerly flow.
Observations:
Things came to an almost screeching halt. There were almost as many
Sharp-shinned as Broad-wing! No eagles or osprey...
Although no clouds against bright blue sky, reports are what few birds
came through were relatively low throughout the morning.
The bulk of the Broad-wing, all 12 of them, came through between 1-2
p.m.EST. 2nd best hour was 2-3 (EST) with 7 BW!
After 3 p.m. only 1 bird, a Sharp-shinned.
Hummingbird: 2
Blue Jay: reports of numerous jays crossing the gap
Cedar Waxwing: quite a few bands continue to move back and forth.
Monarch Butterfly: 11
Predictions:
Sunshine with increasing cloud cover and bit cooler. Maybe some hawks too
please!
