Observers:
Visitors:
Raptorians Wade and Lisa Hildreth returned for a weekend visit. Just wish
they had been rewarded with good flights and good weather. Other
observers included Rose Thomas, Ed and Donna Lewis and Duane Brown
Weather:
In a word, YUCK! Rain bands from tropical depression Rita moved in
producing low cloud cover with threat of rain. Early morning low clouds
over north ridge. Just an overall gray, dismal day with a definite chill
in the air.
Wind: A slight breeze out of the north changing to SE wind 6-15 km/h;
Temp: 21.5c dropping to 20c.
Humidity: 62%>70%;
cloud cover: 100%
Raptor Observations:
Guess they had better sense to take a break and find a sheltered spot until
front pushed through.
We did get a Merlin, seaon's second, to cruise in close.
What few birds we saw were flying low, some well below eye level.
Non-raptor Observations:
An incredible flight of Monarch Butterfly. A sporadic count and we got
well over 600. The sky was filled with them!
Pileated Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Predictions:
Mostly cloudy
