I apologize for this late post, but I was unable to get to a computer until
today.
I visited Hog Island WMA on Sunday (9/18/05). While I did not see the WHITE
PELICAN that had been reported, by luck I was able to see a SORA. The SORA
was investigating the edge of the southern impoundment. Other birds
included an immature R.-H. WOODPECKER, a MAGNOLIA WARBLER, two WHITE-R.
SANDPIPERS, an ACADIAN FLYCATCHER, a SUMMER TANAGER, and a few species of
shorebirds.
Earlier the same morning, I wandered around a wooded area near my house in
Portsmouth, heard a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK and saw a SUMMER TANAGER and a
BALTO. ORIOLE.
