I just observed a drab Bay-breasted Warbler foraging in the trees and
shrubs along the Quarantine Road path on the Old Dominion University campus in
Norfolk. This bird was very cooperative, thanks in part to the water stream
(which has been running more consistently this fall).
Also, I stopped by the Lion's Bridge area of Mariner's Museum Park in
Newport News around 8am this morning and observed a mixed flock of birds just
past the Horse Statue. A Yellow-bellied Flycatcher was the highlight, and the
many Redstarts, Gnatcatchers, and Red-eyed Vireos were accompanied by several
ad. male Black-throated Blue Warblers, a Northern Parula, single Summer and
Scarlet Tanagers, a Prothonotary Warbler, and 2 Swainson's Thrushes. All the
best,
Nick Flanders.
