This is a perched adult male "gray ghost". We seldom see the adult males, and
even less seldom see a perched Harrier.
This is the first of four shots, taken by my wife Lynn Rafferty. They are not
very sharp, but they convey the light color and shading.

This bird was perched on a low fence post probably 2-3 feet above the ground.
It took off and flew low over the field, showing the white rump. Remington, VA
on I-15/29, Sunday afternoon shortly before the snow began falling.
I was driving, saw this weirdly colored perched hawk, and slammed the brakes.
It was strikingly different from our normal perched Buteo hawks.
