Visitors:
Lots of Parkway traffic for a Tuesday. A few stopped in to ask what was
going on. 8 AT hiker today. Nice help today from Jerry and his wife,
Elizabeth, Harrison and Mitch, Anne and her kids, Kelly, Jeff and his wife.
I am sure I missed a few.
Weather:
We were expecting clearer weather today, but had 100% cloud cover for most
of the day. Had a few hours with 50-80% cloud coverage backed by high hazy
sky. Much cooler today, 56F- 67F. Visibility was a 5. Winds were generally
light, 1-5mph and usually from the East.
Raptor Observations:
Another day, another 20 eagles. ABE seen at: 10a, 11a, 2@11:15a, 12:58p,
1:20p, 2 @ 1:50p, 2 @ 1:55p, 3 @ 2p, 2:45p. Immature eagles seen at:
12:55p, 2 @ 2:15p, 2:35p, 2:45p, and 2:50p.
Despite an easterly wind, most birds were seen to the West. First bird was
a SS seen to the East.
Wonderful long view of NH. One of the Merlins flew directly at us and gave
a good view of its flight pattern.
Non-raptor Observations:
The Barred Owl was still calling in the valley.
Once again the regulars stepped up. Received massive help from Allen, King
and Joanne, Matt, Bob, Mitch, Mike, Darryl, Dave, Dale, Garland K, John,
Dillard. Appreciated the return of Baron and Tina.
Predictions:
Let's see how many hawks get ahead of the rain.
