Observers: David Kirk, Katie James, Matt Hosmer
Visitors:
David K. was by late agreeing with the age old homily that a bad day on the
mountain is better than a good day in the valley ..... Not so many people
passing by in cars or hiking - some bikers.
Weather:
Matt was up early this morning because he loves the place. At 8, the
temperature was -2, but rose to be relative warm at 18.2. Visibility was 4
throughout and clouds were only about 15% early and rose to 65% late.
Barometer fell from 30.35 to 30.25. Wind was light and variable
consistently through the day.
Raptor Observations:
First hawk of the day was a Northern Harrier, low and flapping on the West
side, perhaps an omen. The Immature Bald Eagle came in low at 2:04 and was
rising for several minutes to very high and then off to the Southeast. Two
Redtails witnessed the flight, one coming close to the Eagle.
Non-raptor Observations:
Friend of the Parkway was by to clean up, although we keep the place pretty
neat (except for Dillard)....I shamelessly tried to recruit him...
Reminiscing about the cold NW winds that characterize this time of year -
sitting in the car watching..waiting...freezing.
Predictions:
Cloudy with some East wind and not too cold.
