Visitors:
A young couple got engaged. AJ said he got an "education" from Baron. Dick
made his first visit to the watch.
Lots of great help from Baron and Tina, Don, Phillip, Bob, Mark M, Garland,
the Newcomb, and Gretch and Bob.
Weather:
Initially the watch was socked in on both sides. The E valley cleared
first, a bit after 9a. The W valley really didn't open up till 11a. Cloud
base was initially low, but rose and eventually broke up. Cloud cover was
100%, but lessened to 40%. Winds were from the NW, but moved to the NE and
E by end of the day. Speed was 1-4mph, though there was only a faint breeze
later in the day. Visibility became a 5 once we were no longer socked in.
Initial temperature was 60F and finished at 69F.
Raptor Observations:
Several SS today. Only one IBE at 2:40p. Several Osprey were seen in the 3P
hour. We had a really nice look at an immature RS today. One other
interesting bird was seen. Will not say we got a positive ID, as it was
seen backlit and at quite a distance. However, the flight pattern, wing
beats, and silhouette reminded this writer very much of the Short-eared Owl
seen over the watch a few years back.
