A planned short kayak trip at Harwoods Mill this morning turned into 3.5
hours. Ospreys are definitely back, and I watched several cruise the tree
line picking off loose limbs for their nests. Woodpeckers were especially
vocal early, while Pine Warblers remained vocal all morning. The first
highlight was a Fox Sparrow that has been scarce at this location this winter.
The other highlight was an Otter. We were on course for a head-on
collision when we both stopped about 50 ft apart to examine each other. After
a
few moments, we picked sides and continued on our ways.
