This morning I paddled around the reservoir and had a nice selection of
birds. The number of Wood Ducks has increased significantly since my last
visit with a total of 33 found today. Four immature Bald Eagles were
circling the overhead. One appeared to be pursuing a duck, but wasn't gaining
on
it as they flew out of sight. It's flight didn't appear to be a determined
effort. Also overhead were 425 Tundra Swans, all flying north. Others
were heard, but they were out of sight. A pair of Great Blue Herons were
standing in their nest. And finally, a pair of otter were courting along the
shore, then commenced to escort me for a period of time.
