Hello all
I had a get away trip to Highland & Bath Counties today for the fall foliage .
While the foliage was at its peak & the weather spitting snow as well as Snowy
mountains trees encased in ice ( what a sight ) . I found a few birds along the
way . In Highland on a small pond was about a dozen Canadas , several song &
white - throated sparrows would fly up from the roads edge at times with one
first year Bald Eagle flying high up around High Town . About 7 Ravens were
milling around on some road kill with several Turkey Vultures in the waiting .
Over in Bath County at the Dam was 33 Black Duck & 103 Mallards . Also about 12
Canadas were on one of the over spill ponds near the Dam . One Adult Bald Eagle
sored over the dam on the way in . The real find for the day was on the way
home on Rt 39 about half mile from where you turn off to go to Fort Lewis Lodge
in an open field was a lone adult Tundra Swan . What a way to end a perfect day
across the mountain .
