This afternoon, a horned grebe, 10 canvasbacks, and 2 pairs of hooded
mergansers were on Knitting Mill Creek, Colonial Place.
On the Elizabeth River between Edgewater and Lochhaven, one common loon, 30
red-breasted mergansers.
The inlet off N. Shore Rd. alongside the Hermitage Museum continues to be a
good spot to see wigeons, ruddy ducks, bufflehead and an occasional american
black duck. Over the last few months I have seen, in addition to the above,
shovelers, redheads, greater and lesser scaup, common goldeneye, common
mergansers, hooded mergansers, red breasted mergansers, double-crested
cormorant and grebes all seen from the Hermitage Museum. And that's just on
the water! Check out the woods surrounding the museum during migration.
Abundant variety.
