I got a chance to briefly visit Hunting Creek to look for shorebirds this
morning (Sat 7/5, 10:00-10:45 a.m.). Here's what I saw (w/approximate counts):
West of the stone bridge:
Spotted Sandpiper - 1
Least Sandpipers - 6
Lesser Yellowlegs - 8
Killdeer - 4
Caspian Terns - 3
Ring-billed Gulls - 30
Great Egrets - 3
Great Blue Heron - 1
East of the bridge:
Pied-billed Grebe - 1
Great Blue Herons - 10
Ring-billed Gulls - 10
The was also an Osprey or two in the area, Barn Swallows and Mallards.
On the way home I stopped across from Cameron Run Park but didn't see anything
of note.
