Paula Sullivan and I had a productive visit this morning to Hunting Creek and
Dyke Marsh. Highlights at Hunting Creek were shorebirds including GREATER
YELLOW LEGS, SEMIPALMED PLOVER,SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER,and LEAST SANDPIPER. We
also saw 10 WOOD DUCKS, and many CASPIAN TERNS aand GREAT EGRETS along with the
usual suspects.
Dyke Marsh was held some surprises -- the highlights were SNOWY EGRET near
the bay area to the right of the marina. From the dogleg onward we saw RED
EYED VIREO,singing WARBLING VIREO, 2 PHILADELPIHIA VIREOS,and a WHITE EYED
VIREO,it was great to compare them so closely. We also had warblers- a lte
YELLOW,MAGNOLIA,PRAIRIE,PALM,REDSTART,and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT. There were also
BLUE GRAY GNATCATCHERS and a BALTIMORE ORIOLE. Finally, we heard an early RUBY
CROWNED KINGLET singing.
