Hi all!
I went to Huntley Meadows this morning with my brother, mother, and aunt.
The torrential downpour made for a great walk! It was rather cool, which
made it all the nicer. My intent for being at Huntley was for shorebirds. I
have been dying to gaze upon a shorebird, and since I finished the
two-thirds of my summer homework this week I decided to take a break and go
birding. I saw two Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 8 Killdeer, and
1 Least Sandpiper. Additional birds were one possible Merganser of sorts, 2
Great Blues, and 1 Green Heron, and various expected passerines. Non-birds
included turtles, an, otter, a toad, and a lovely green tree frog. I would
have stayed longer (still waiting for that rare shorebird to show up) but
usually looking through scopes strains my eyes that give me headaches so I
turned in after an hour, right when it was clearing up.
