I began my weekly survey of the Hike-Bike Trail this morning. On opening day,
as it were, I tallied 6 Pine Warblers (3 males and a female concentrated at the
maintenance building, a nest building pair of Eastern Phoebes, 1 Palm Warbler,
and a rather early House Wren. Tree Swallows were everywhere (24) and it looks
like they will dominate our nestboxes again this year. Eastern Bluebirds and
Tree Swallows were mixing it up at one box (odd since most of the literature
says they do not compete for boxes- however, most of our boxes are paired and
this was a singleton).
