Very few migrants around the Hike/Bike Trail on Saturday (a few PEWEES and
PHOEBES, 1 each PARULA, BTB, MAGNOLIA, and PALM).
Sunday I birded some private property near Upperville in Fauquier County and
had much better luck. In addition to the Nashville and Kentucky, I also saw
a MAGNOLIA and BTG, a flock of 6 SAVANNAH SPARROWS, 10 MEADOWLARKS, 2
RAVENS, 2 SAPSUCKERS, and 2 KESTRELS. The kestrels were interacting for
several minutes. I was struck by how much bigger the female was than the
male.
This morning I saw my first WINTER WREN of the season in White Oaks Park.
Still waiting for my first rumps and white-throats.
