Mother's Day was spent birding on Warbler Road off the Blue Ridge Parkway. I
observed a bird that I could not identify and hope that you all can assist.
The bird was small, observed foraging on the forrest floor. It was charcoal
gray in color (body and head) with bright yellow wing bars and yellow wash
under the tail but rest of the body was gray. Wing bars not patches and no
distinguishing markings on the head or around the eyes, just dark gray. It was
foraging and so not singing. I have absolutely no clue, although I have
searched the internet and several field guides. Any assistance much
appreciated.
Good birding!
