Hello VA-Birders,
Peter Ross, Kurt Gaskill and I birded several locations in northern Virginia
today, including the Prince William Co landfill where we had a first year
ICELAND GULL and 2 adult and 1 juvenile LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS. There were
at least 14 Bald Eagles present in all ages.
Earlier in the day we visited Burke Lake where we had at least 17 PINE SISKINS
calling overhead, and a PURPLE FINCH. Other notable birds were a COMMON
MERGANSER at the marina at the mouth of the Occoquan River, and a few
BONAPARTE'S GULLS at Leesylvania SP and near Julie Metz Wetlands, rounding out
a 6 gull day. We had 82 species total.
