Peregrine Falcons were observed copulating on a ledge on the north side of the
Wilson Bridge, just east of the main channel yesterday. The nesting ledge
appears to be on a western abutment beyond the red light markers on the
downstream side. This view is obstructed from Jones Point viewing although
the Peregrines fly repeatedly to this ledge under the bridge and were observed
emerging from this precise area to dive bomb a crow that flew too close.
After the mating the female consumed part of a prey item that the male had
left.
The pair has been observed roosting close together during the past week and
using a roost opposite their probable nesting site. They have also been
observed in tandem flights.
