To all,
On the road to get to the school there was a flock of either 1000 grackles
or red-wings that flew past. As they past the trees a Cooper's Hawk started
to fly towards them. That is all I was able to see
Today was active in the trees I observe outside the cafeteria window. There
were three bluebirds, 6 Northern rough-wings flew over, a Pine Warbler, one
passerine sp., bird appeared drab brown (lighting and view not graet) and
possibly stripes on the head, possibly Worm-eating Wa, and there were two
small fiesty little birds in the tree. The only good look I had was a
silhouette of a perched one. They were small with a long thin rectangular
shaped tail, I am guessing Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.
Later in the morning at P.E. I heard the Pine Warbler singing again. there
were about 100 grackles, starlings, and cowbirds near the baseball fields.
\Grackles were not present last class. We went for a 1.5 mile walk in the
woods, were I counted 1 cardinal, 1 downy, 2 sparrows sp. (prob. Chipping),
1 Carolina Wren, 1 chickadee, 1 titmouse, some grackles. Some of the
students found what I believe to be a Ruffed Grouse feather, which I kept.
Right before I went in there was a small flock of about 10-20 jays.
