I noticed juvenile American Goldfinch begging from their parents in the yard
today. It is amazing to see fledglings this late in the season. I guess the
AMGO fledge young to coincide with the peak of the seed production.
eBird just released version 2. It has a sleek new look and lots of new
features, including the ability to see Life, State and County lists. There
is the ability to get data on species range maps, abundance, etc. Check it
out: http://www.ebird.org/content/. It is a lot of fun to keep track of all
the birds you have seen over the years, and know that you are contributing
to a very worthwhile project.
