Hello VA-Birders,
I went to my local patch in McLean after the rain let up this morning, and
had my best day of the spring so far. Most of the birds were concentrated in
two areas: by the bridge near the back of Kent Gardens Elementary School,
and near the red-shouldered hawk nest (where the trail enters the woods near
Old Chesterbrook Rd). My ear was getting quite a workout with
chestnut-sideds, black-and-whites, magnolias, and redstarts singing at the
same time. It was worth sloshing through a few inches of water at several
spots along the trail. E-bird list is below.
