Paul Glass and I observed several nice groups of waterfowl on Kerr Reservoir
(Mecklenburg Co.) today with the highlight being 11 TUNDRA SWANS, an uncommon
bird in that area. Also good numbers of MALLARDS, SCAUP , RING-NECKED DUCKS,
REDHEADS and lesser numbers of AMERICAN WIGEON, RUDDY DUCKS, AMERICAN COOTS,
AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS and HOODED MERGANSERS. More COMMON LOONS and HORNED GREBES
than last week and the first BONAPARTE'S GULLS of the season made their
appearance. Winter's on it's way. Good birding.
