VA Birders,
Bev Leeuwenburg, Fenton Day, and I spent the day birding around Kerr
Reservoir. We had hoped for the Pacific Loon but dipped despite Adam's
best efforts at refinding the bird. We had a good day though and
managed 71 species without trying that hard. Highlights were a Merlin
at Palmers Point (a county bird for Fenton which made him extremely
happy), four Snow Buntings along the dam, two Common Goldeneye in a
mixed Ring-necked Duck/Lesser Scaup flock, a couple Bonaparte's Gull
below the dam, and two very cute Brown-headed Nuthatches. A complete
list follows.
