Howdy all,
The past two days have been rather slow at the banding station but the weather
has been super nice. We also had a lot of visitors this weekend as well.
Although the numbers were low we still managed to caught a few nice birds.
Yesterday we banded a total of 27 birds, but only 20 today. We caught Nashville
Warblers on both days. Kind of funny, we caught our first Nashville last year
on the 25th Sept. too! Brown Thrashers are in good numbers around the park as
well as Blue Jays. But we have been only catching a few Thrashers. On the
25th, we caught our 2nd Hooded Warbler of the season.
Totals 9/25:
A. Redstart 4
Nashville 1
Hooded 1
C. Yellowthroat 7
House Wren 3
Indigo Bunting 3
Red-eyed Vireo 1
Gray Catbird 2
N. Cardinal 1
Brown Thrasher 2
N. Mockingbird 2
Totals 9/26:
N. Parula 1
Magnolia 1
C. Yellowthroat 1
Nashville 1
Yellow-breasted Chat 1
Carolina Chickadee 1
House Wren 1
Red-eyed Vireo 1
Carolina Wren 1
Scarlet Tanager 1
Gray-cheeked Thrush 1
Gray Catbird 1 (Yes, one of everything!)
Indigo Bunting 3
N. Cardinal 3
Brown Thrasher 2
Not many, but quite diverse!
Not sure what to expect the next few days. Tuesday looks ugly. I've got my
fingers crossed.
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
