Hola Birders,
This week has been all about Sharp-shined Hawk numbers going up. Recent
conditions have favored a slow paced migration spread across the entire
peninsula. We're looking for a cold front and some Northeast winds to localize
a big count over our platform. Here's the break down from today:
BLVU: 1
TUVU: 12
OSPR: 36
BAEA: 3 (juv, basic 3, basic 2)
NOHA: 8
SSHA: 123
BWHA: 46
RTHA: 1
AMKE: 72
MERL: 10
PEFA: 3
Total: 359
Season: 3,605
Other sightings:
Flicker numbers continue to be high and Blue Jay numbers have jumped. Today at
least 300 Blue Jays passed the platform. Red-breasted Nuthatches are in good
form and the odd warbler is still in view. Kingbirds, Orioles, Chimney Swifts
and Nighthawks are still seen daily. Why don't you stop by tomorrow?
Good birding and good day,
-Sam Stuart
