Weather:
Winds were generally calm this morning, becoming light to moderate, and
wind direction was mostly from the east southeast. Skies were mostly to
partly cloudy, with temperatures in the seventies to mid eighties. Humidity
hung in the air this morning, but a nice breeze later on helped to cool
things off.
Raptor Observations:
Activity peaked in the late morning to early afternoon. The flight was
rather stagnant at times, but it was nice to see some Ospreys moving. A
peregrine and Cooper's Hawk chased each other through the air at one point,
which was a nice highlight.
Non-raptor Observations:
There was an excellent Bobolink flight today, with approximately 1,041
birds seen passing. A leucistic Eastern Kingbird with entirely white upper
wings flew by. Several hundred Eastern Kingbirds and Purple Martins were on
the move. Other highlights included:
16 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers
6 Glossy Ibises
3 Red-headed Woodpeckers
2 Pileated Woodpeckers
1 Common Nighthawk
